Western Cape Rose Society

Our History

The Western Cape Rose Society was established in 1969, being the brainchild of Professor Sid Cywes and Mr Willie Staegeman, who became the first chairman.  Many years later Mr Willie Krause owner of Eden Nurseries in Paarl, Duncan Henderson of Duncan Roses in Elgin and Dick and Linda Lindner joined the society.  The Linders were the driving force behind the establishment of the Durbanville Rose Garden and the trial grounds.  In 1983 the rose garden was opened by Gene Louw then the Administrator of the Cape.  Today we have +- 90 members from all parts of the Western Cape.  The society meets during the year as well as hosts various exciting events during the year to suit both the casual rose fan and the passionate enthusiast alike . Please see the events calendar for dates.

The club is located in Durbanville, Western Cape - See map for exact location
